A Quick Guide to the Meaning of Colors for Valentine's Day Flowers

     As a floral designer, I don't really like giving symbolic meaning to flower colors because I absolutely love them all.  And I've used every color imaginable for all occasions. As for weddings, the skies the limit. Choose whatever color makes you happiest.  For Valentine's Day however, there are some traditional meanings to know. Whether you choose to follow them is your choice.
     I do remember receiving a bouquet of YELLOW roses once from a boyfriend and when I found out yellow meant 'friendship', I was a little dismayed. I still enjoyed the flowers, of course, but had to wonder if he knew their meaning. I later found out that he picked them because he thought they looked nice and not because of some symbolic meaning.
      All red is the traditional way to express love, of course, but there are combinations of red with shades of pink that are also gorgeous when put together.  If you need help determining what would be the best way to express your feelings, ask your local florist. Below is a quick guide for symbolic colors for Valentine's Day. If you choose one of the more unusual colors (not red or pink), be sure and order your flowers extra early so the designer can have that particular color on hand.
